Identification Assessment and Remediation
It is estimated that up to 70% of children with learning difficulties have visual processing problems
This course will provide you with the professional knowledge, training skills and resourcing to identify, assess needs, make specialist referrals and remediate vision problems impacting student learning
This 3 1/2 hour course will offer:
Understanding visual processing problems and underpinning weaknesses, including:

- Visual discrimination;
- Visual memory;
- Visual sequencing;
- Visual closure;
- Visual figure ground;
- Scanning and tracking;
- Irlens.
Identification, assessment and referral.
- What is a behavioural optometrist assessment and why is it important?
- Resources and remediation strategies to provide vision training for identified students in an “in school” setting.
This brand new course is designed:
- To teach all school staff how to identify students with visual problems and where to refer them.
- To provide a visual training programme for SENCO’s, teacher aides and other staff to remediate visual problems at low cost.
- To give schools a resource kit to use for visual training.
Early bird rates of $275.00 plus GST are charged with payment due on or before the seminar date. Later payments will be charged at $320.00 + GST per person. A full resource kit is included in this seminar.
A discount of $50.00 applies if both half day seminars are booked on the same day.

Phonological Awareness/Spelling Seminar
A Multisensory Approach
This 2 1/2 hour course will offer:
- An integrated reading, writing and spelling approach
- Suitable from new entrant to 15 years
Assessment:
- Development stages and levelling;
- Identifying learning gaps;
- Analysing assessments;
- Documentation templates.
Planning and Resourcing:
- Using assessment diagnostically;
- Planning suitable programmes;
- Teaching to developmental stages;
- Resourcing.
Implementation:
- Teaching small groups/whole class approaches;
- Strategies, skills and resources.
- Monitoring effective programmes.
This course will provide you with the professional knowledge and teaching skills, building new resources and use existing resources, to run effective programmes for all student levels and meet the needs of at risk learners

- Stage 1 up to 8 years
- Stage 2 up to 12 years
- Stage 3 up to 15 years
